8:00-8:20 Arrival & Seatwork Students will be doing short activities to practice reading, math and writing skills.
8:20-8:50 Opening Students will learn math and language skills in context of our calendar. They will build oral language, phonemic awareness and number sense.
8:50-9:20 Guiding Readers Students will be guided to make meaning of the books they listen to and write to explain the meaning.
9:20-9:45 Unit Time Students extend their learning on science and social studies topics related to books introduced during guiding reading.
9:45-10:00 Recess Students will play outside on the playground.
10:00-10:45 Math Students will be introduced to math skills (number sense, base ten, geometry, measurement, addition/subtraction, data).. Students will then practice these skills with a partner, small group or individually.
10:45-10:50 Restroom Break Students use the restroom and wash for lunch.
10:50-11:15 Lunch Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria.
11:15-11:45 Pathways to Reading Students learn phonics (letters, sounds, words) and handwriting.
11:45-12:35 Discovery Time Students will attend activity classes on a rotating basis. (A-Music/PE B-Art C-Music/PE D-Guidance E-Library))
12:35-12:55Recess Students will play outside on the playground.
12:55-1:20 Project Lead The Way or Social Studies Students will engage in exploratory lessons and activities that build critical and creative thinking, teamwork skills and perseverance.
1:20-2:10 Tier II Time Students will work with teachers at their reading and math ability levels. (Title 1-- STARS--Enrichment)
2:10-2:30 Continue Project Lead The Way or Social Studies
2:30-3:00 Centers & Small Groups Students will use hands-on center activities to reinforce creativity, problem solving and cooperation. This is a chance for the teacher to pull small groups to provide instruction at each student’s individual ability.
3:00-3:09 Dismissal Teachers will dismiss the students at the bus and walker doors.
