8:00-8:30 Arrival & Seatwork Students will be doing short activities to practice reading, math and writing skills.
8:30-8:50 Centers & Small Groups Students will use hands-on center activities to reinforce creativity, problem solving and cooperation. This is a chance for the teacher to pull small groups to provide instruction at each student’s individual ability.
8:50-9:30 Opening Students will learn math and language skills in context of our calendar. They will build oral language, phonemic awareness and number sense.
9:30-9:50 Guided Reading Students will be guided to make meaning of the books they listen to and write to explain the meaning.
9:50-10:20 Unit Time Students extend their learning on science and social studies topics related to books introduced during guided reading.
10:20-10:45 Tier II Time Students will work with teachers at their reading ability level. (Title 1-- STARS--Enrichment)
10:45-11:00 Pathways to Reading Students learn phonics (letters, sounds, words) and handwriting.
11:00-11:30 Lunch Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria.
11:30-12:30 Project Lead The Way Students will engage in exploratory lessons and activities that build critical and creative thinking, teamwork skills and perseverance. Modules include: Structure & function: Exploring Design; Pushes and Pulls; Structure & Function: Human Body; Animals & Algorithms (Computer Programing).
12:30-12:45 Recess Students will play outside on the playground.
12:45-1:35 Discovery Time Students will attend activity classes on a rotating basis. A Day--Music/PE B Day--PE/Guidance C Day--Guidance/Art D Day--Art/Library E Day--Library/Music
1:35-1:40 Transition & Drinks Students will calmly transition back to the classroom.
1:40-2:30 Math Students will be introduced to math skills (number sense, base ten, geometry, measurement, addition/subtraction, data).. Students will then practice these skills with a partner, small group or individually.
2:30-3:00 Recess Students will play outside on the playground.
3:00-3:05 Dismissal Teachers will dismiss the students at the bus and walker doors.
